Australian Postcards

The word ‘postcard’ is used tongue in cheek as these works are not your usual pretty postcard view. It also suggests brevity. 6:48 PM the works have an economy of mark and simplified form like scenes observed from a moving vehicle which is how most of us now view the landscape – minus the detail.

Some of the titles of the works hint at Australia’s dark and buried history i.e. BLACK CLOUDS OVER HANGMAN’HILL and DEADMAN’S GULLY, titles collected while driving through various parts of the country which bear no relation to the images to which they are connected.

Begun in 2001 this series now number 30 to 40 works and in which I feel may just keep on growing.
