Cactus

My first major body of work (1986-1987), where views of stylised cactus plants, with their spines and thorns and short-lived blooms, depict harsh reds and purples contrasted with more acid blues and greens symbolise a period of mental anguish in my life.

In this series of work fragmented reflections on choppy seas at the bottom of cliff faces are depicted in broad broken brush strokes and in bold short stripes of saturated colour.
